To provide our clients and their pets with access to specialists within the familiar surroundings of Daventry Vets without having to travel to referral centre we work with Virtual Veterinary Specialists (VVS). They provide a range of services from consultations with our vets about your pet to live guided cardiology, with ultrasound, ECG and a full written report with treatment recommendations.
Virtual Veterinary Specialists have specialists in cardiology, medicine, anaesthesia, oncology, imaging neurology, dermatology and more.
Veterinary specialists are equivalent to human consultants.

How does it work?
Here are some ways Daventry Vets currently work with Virtual Veterinary Specialists:
Internal Medicine
If your pet has complex or unusual medical signs we can arrange for one of our vets to have a consultation about your pet with an Internal medicine specialist. We send them all your pets notes and any test results so they will be fully up to date with your pets condition when they speak to our vet. They will advise our vet on possible further tests and treatment options.
Cardiology
With the help of technology we can have a specialist cardiologist guiding and interpreting your pets heart scan and ECG as one of our vets performs it. They see what we see in real time. Your pet receives specialist cardiology in our practice at an affordable price. No long journeys to referral centres. Our vets are involved in the whole of your pet’s care. We receive a full written report with treatment recommendations.
Anaesthesia
Some pets with complex medical, neurological or heart conditions may require anaesthesia. The specialist anaesthetist at VVS can create a bespoke anaesthetic protocol for them, advise us of extra things to be aware of during the procedure and on recovery. This means we can make the anaesthetic as safe as possible for that pet.
We also have anaesthetic webinars from the anaesthesia specialist keeping us up to date on providing the safest anaesthesia we can for our patients.
Oncology
Being told your pet has cancer is never easy. With the help of specialist oncologists from VVS we can guide you through treatment options and they can create bespoke chemotherapy treatment plans for your pet based on their notes and results. This allows your pet to be cared for by the vets and nurses they know in familiar surroundings.
