Behaviour

Sometimes dogs and cats develop behavioural problems that are frustrating to deal with and can interfere with the enjoyment of owning a pet.

All our vets and nurses can give you very good basic advice about behaviour but some pets may need a little bit more help and for those we are happy to recommend referral to a behaviourist.

We currently refer behavioural problems to Stephanie Hedges BSc (Hons). Stephanie has been a full member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors since 2009. She studied animal behaviour at the University of Southampton.

Dog training

If you are thinking of taking your dog to training classes we recommend that you choose a trainer who belongs to the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT). Members of the APDT undergo written and practical examinations and adhere to a code of conduct. To find a class run by a local APDT trainer please visit:

Please note: The APDT (USA) is not the same as the UK APDT. The APDT (USA) does not perform any kind of assessment on UK trainers.
